
"Laws
of the Game", the "Referee
Administrative Handbook" and "Guide
to Procedures for Referees, Assistant Referees, and Fourth Officials"are
the primary publications that describe the rules of how a Soccer
match is officiated and the administrative requirements for a Referee.
The Connecticut
State Referee Program (CSRP) is affiliated with the United States
Soccer Federation (USSF) and it administers a Referee training program
as described in the Referee Administrative Handbook.
The CSRP
will offer "Entry Level" Referee certification clinics
during the first half of each year and then focus on training and
re-certification of existing Referees the remainder of the year.
Candidates
who meet the age requirement and would like to become a Soccer Referee
may register for a Entry Level Referee Certification Clinic:
REFEREE - GRADE 8 ENTRY LEVEL CLINIC
The Grade 8 Entry-level
Clinic will train individuals wishing to Referee youth games at
a variety levels. This clinic is a required training for those wishing
to advance to higher level competitions and upgrade to higher Referee
grades.
You may be a:
- Referee for
all small-sided games (U6 - U8)
- Referee for
all recreational youth games
- Referee for
all youth games
- Assistant Referee
for all youth games
Topics include basic
instruction on the Diagonal System of Control (using three officials),
significant instruction on fouls and misconduct, offside, Referee
and Assistant Referee duties and responsibilities. Upon successful
completion and registration with USSF and CSRP the individual may
officiate all levels of youth games as Referee or Assistant Referee.
Clinic Requirements
- You must be 13
years old by 6/30 of the year you are taking the clinic
- Clinic fee -
$70.75
- Minimum of 20
students
- Maximum of 40 students
- Minimum 17.5
hours of classroom time
- Attend all classes
and field sessions
- Pass the exam
with grade of 75 or better
